Dear Friends of Elizabeth Haddon School,
It is my honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the 2022 – 2023 school year!
I am incredibly proud to serve as the principal of this amazing learning community for the ninth year and to continue to support the students and families of our community. Prior to my principalship at Haddon, I taught fourth grade here for five years and served as the district’s curriculum coordinator for one year. I hold two master’s degrees, one in elementary education from the University of Pennsylvania and one in educational leadership from Temple University. I hold a bachelor’s degree in economics from Dickinson College.
On behalf of the entire faculty, we’re very excited for a new school year, which will be filled with much learning, fun, hard work, and excitement. Often people ask me, “What happens at school in the summer?” Over the summer, new teachers and educational assistants were hired, many schedules were created for the upcoming year, cleaning was done, new students were welcomed and teachers spent time setting up their rooms. While we prepared for the upcoming year, school wasn’t quite the same without the hallways and classrooms filled with our students and the “buzz” of learning.
A new year signifies a special time when students get to develop an excitement for learning, make new friendships, see old friends, develop close relationships with new teachers, learn a lot of new information, pursue new interests, and challenge themselves in new ways. We hope that your child continues to develop both their social and academic skills this school year as they continue their learning journey.
Our goals for the year include enacting the fourth year of our strategic plan. This year includes a strong focus on staff culture, student and faculty belonging, and student engagement. We encourage you to explore our school’s website to learn more. Strong relationships between school leadership, teachers, families, and the community are essential to the success of all students in the classroom and beyond. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time.
Best,
Gerry Bissinger
