1 to 1 Overview

Introduction:

Haddonfield School District’s 1:1 Chromebook program in grades 3 through 12 is designed to provide students with a device to use at school and at home. The initiative’s goal is to cultivate and support digital learning platforms that mirror college and workplace needs reflecting contemporary exchanges and interactions. With access to a Chromebook and the ability to connect via WiFi, students and teachers can engage in 21st century learning.

Each 3rd through 12th grade student will be provided a District Chromebook and charger for the 25/26 school year. Students are responsible for bringing the Chromebook to school, taking it home each day, and ensuring it is charged for use each school day. As of 2024 Graduating Seniors are now allowed to keep their assigned Chromebook after they graduate.

Google and Third Party Apps

We use Google Workspace for Education and require your permission to provide and manage a Google Workspace for Education account for your child. Google Workspace for Education is a set of education productivity tools from Google including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Classroom, and more used by tens of millions of students and teachers around the world. Students will use their Google Workspace for Education accounts to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers, and sign into their Chromebooks. Parental consent will be gathered during initial student registration as well as annually in August within the district’s student information system. If you don’t provide your consent, we will not create a Google Workspace for Education account for your child. Not providing consent to use Google services will greatly impact your child’s educational experience. For example, students who cannot use Google services may not be able to complete assignments or collaborate with peers.
