My name is Gerry Bissinger, and I have had the privilege of serving as Lizzy Haddon’s principal since 2014. My journey at Elizabeth Haddon began in the classroom, where I taught fourth grade for five years and later served as the district’s curriculum coordinator before transitioning into my role as principal. I hold master’s degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania and Educational Leadership from Temple University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Dickinson College. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for students’ learning journeys and the importance of viewing schools through multiple perspectives.

At the heart of my leadership philosophy is a simple guiding question: Is this decision best for kids? At Elizabeth Haddon, we believe every student can learn, grow, and accomplish their goals when they feel valued, supported, and challenged. We work hard to create a cohesive school culture where students, staff, and families feel heard and respected, and where strong relationships form the foundation for success.

Great teaching is at the core of everything we do. Our dedicated faculty designs engaging, rigorous instruction that meets students where they are while encouraging curiosity, inquiry, and perseverance. Our curriculum emphasizes strong foundational skills in literacy and mathematics while also promoting critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. Students are encouraged to take learning beyond the classroom, pursue their interests, and develop a growth mindset that helps them learn from mistakes and embrace challenges.

We believe education is a shared responsibility. Strong partnerships between school leadership, teachers, families, and our broader community are essential to student success. Families are welcomed as partners in learning, and we value open communication, shared leadership, and collaboration as we work together to support every child.

At Elizabeth Haddon, we also emphasize the importance of social skills, integrity, and service. Students learn to communicate effectively, collaborate with others, and contribute positively to their community. We strive to empower students not only as learners, but as leaders, thinkers, creators, and compassionate citizens.

I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our curriculum, upcoming events, and the tremendous work of our PTA.
